Personal and business correspondence of William B. Duke, of Caledonia, Va., Dr. James E. Duke, of Tennessee, Napoleon Bonaparte Duke, of New York state, and Walter Patterson Duke, of Arkansas, and later of Texas, four of the sons of Edmund W. Duke of Goochland Co., Va. The bulk of the material deals with crop conditions and prices encountered in their various farming ventures in Tennessee, Texas, New York, Arkansas, and Virginia. Includes two letters describing Ku Klux Klan activities in Tennessee, letters referring to the operation of a general store in Goochland Co., by Walter Patterson Duke and his service as an agent for the Southern Fertilizing Co. of Richmond, and many letters from William H. Gilham of that company.
